Google Meet Classes

Across eight weeks, we’ll work through the language tools that make conversation possible in Louisiana French. By learning how to communicate about the past, present, and future, students will gradually build the confidence and structure needed to participate in real dialogue.

How the Adult Classes Work

Classes are held live using Google Meet, a simple video meeting platform that allows everyone in the class to see, hear, and speak with one another in real time. Before each session, you’ll receive a link to join the meeting. At the scheduled class time, simply click the link and you’ll be taken directly into the virtual classroom.

Because this is a conversation-based class, a working camera and microphone are required. Being able to see and hear one another helps create a more natural learning environment and allows everyone to participate fully in the conversation.

No special software is required—Google Meet runs directly in most web browsers and can also be accessed on a phone or tablet if needed.

Mobile phone friendly. Learn Cajun French by the pool or at the hotel while on vacation.

Three courses will run for 8 weeks, from Aug 23 – Oct 13

You may choose from three live class times each week:

• Sunday at 3:00PM (basic)

• Sunday at 4:00 PM (intermediate/alumni) *You must have completed at least 50% of one of our basic or independent classes to join intermediate/alumni. If you feel we should make an exception, please email us at info@cajun-french.com.

• Monday at 12:00 PM

• Tuesday at 6:00 PM

Classes are held live using Google Meet.

If you are late or unable to attend a session, a replay of most classes will be available, allowing you to review the lesson and stay on track with the course.

How The Kids Classes Work

A course for middle school & high school kids will run for 16 weeks from August 23-December 15 with holiday breaks.

This course introduces middle school and high school aged students to conversational Louisiana French through familiar stories, cartoons, and everyday language. Using vocabulary from the first episodes of Boudini et Ses Amis on Télé-Louisiane, along with phrases gathered from interviews with older native French speakers, students will build practical speaking skills in a fun and interactive 30-minute class each week.

Before each class, students will watch an episode of Boudini et Ses Amis and receive a short list of words to listen for. During class, photos and guided activities will help them practice using those words in conversation. Over the course of the semester, students will gradually build the confidence to introduce themselves, talk about their family, and share where they are from.
